South Down

Southdown is approximately 2 miles from the city centre. There are various shops and takeaways, which will cater for most of your needs. There is a regular bus service to the town centre.

Oldfield Park

Oldfield Park is the main student area in Bath. It’s a very convenient place to live, because there is a great range of shops and it’s on the 418 and 410 bus route.

Widcombe

Widcombe sits on the Kennet and Avon canal. It is not far from the city centre and the Bath Spa train station and bus depot. The area is a 5 - 10 minutes walk to the city centre, where you have all the amenities and nightlife.

Combe Down

Combe Down is generally a quiet and friendly area to live. The area is popular with students, being fairly close to the University of Bath, and offers shops and pubs that are all within stumbling distance of one another.

Newbridge

A variety of accommodation is available in Newbridge from small flats to large houses. Newbridge is a particular favourite of students at Bath Spa University because of the proximity of the Newton Park Campus. Public transport is frequent along Newbridge Road.

Odd Down

There is a lot of student accommodation in Odd Down. Although quite far from the city centre the bus service is very regular and there is plenty of on street parking for those with cars.

How do we book a property viewing?

You can email us at hello@jalandlettings.com or call us on 01225 311911, alternatively you can fill out the form on th contact us page and we will get back to you.

Do I need to pre book a viewing appointment?

Yes, as we must give current tenants at least 24 hours notice of any viewing's.

What do I do if I like a house?

You will need to pay a holding fee, equivalent to one weeks rent. You will be required to complete an application form and bring photographic ID , proof of address e.g. drivers licence, bank statement or utility bill and proof that you are have the right to rent in the UK e.g. passport, EEA Identity card, biometric immigration document, or immigration status document . We are delighted to be able to offer electronic signing as we know how difficult it can be for those on placements to visit our office.

The deposit due is equivalent to one month’s rent.

We ask that every student has a guarantor. Your guarantor must be UK resident, be in employment and be a home owner. If you are unable to meet these requirements, we do ask that all rent is paid in advance.

Rents are paid monthly in advance by standing order. All rents must be cleared funds in our account by the last working day of the month excluding weekends.

Yes, each property must have a lead tenant who is nominated by you, to be the point of contact between your property and us; to deal with day to day matters relating to your property and to deal with the return of your deposits.

Sorry, we know you love your dog / cats / rabbits or guinea pigs but landlords aren't so keen on your furry friends & wont allow pets.

This is one of our most asked questions & sadly we cannot give you the answer - it depends on how often you have the heating on, how many electrical appliances you use etc. Each house is different as people consume varying levels of energy.
